THE CUTENESS OF THIS SCENE LIKE LBR

Fate appears all teasing like honestly I am just getting whiplash from the UQ manga recently. First he shows up as the big bad, but now here he is kind of just having fun teasing the hot-blooded kin of his old friend. And Eva, honestly EVA I don't know what the original Japanese word here was but I'll thank the translators for giving us 'whipper snapper'. It's beautiful.

Eva's treating Fate as the 'bad influence' friend of her beloved disciple. Like she'll shake her head whenever Fate gets Negi to do something dangerous but in the end she'll just be like 'you little whipper-snappers'. 

And LIKE I LIKE JUST CAN'T TAKE IT because that's all I've ever wanted for these babies??? Fate who can't help but tease the boy who he thinks is so different from his grandfather, and Eva always long suffering, shaking her head at them both - AND NEGI PROBABLY TRYING TO CLUMSILY STOPPING THEM FROM FIGHTING. 

[Starts crying because I just want them to be together and happy forever???????]

 I love this scene, when all they both need is one look to know that it's Negi's writing. Just the two them, looking like when we said goodbye to them the first time around, but now they've been left behind. Everyone is confused why they aren't fighting, but how could they when they're the only two left who understand what they've lost? How could they when they're both fighting to save the people they love, and when those people are the same for both of them?

Let's just calm the internal and external screaming and just appreciate the sight of these two Springfields.

Don't get me wrong, this is a huge surprise. I didn't expect this kind of cameo until well into the tournament arc. I thought that vague back shot from last chapter was just a teaser. Who knew they'd be springing this on us so quickly? (Obviously not me as my caps lock can attest) But even as this was making me scream, I didn't even have time to process it because the next page overwhelmed me with just one word:

What a chapter.
I laughed, I cried - haha jks I just cried and screamed the entire time.

Also I lied last time when I said the series would have to stand on its own. I'm pretty certain I can live on Negima nostalgia and references. Especially when you take it from background cameos to major plot points.
But wow Eva, this series was kind of her story as much as it is Tota's. Up until now we've only seen her self-assured, all-knowing, teasing. Up until now Tota's only seen her like that too.
Same with Fate, who seems to have no relation to the boy we saw at the end of Negima and everything to do with the one we saw at the beginning. The one who never had a hand stretched out to him by an idiot who wanted to be friends with a villain.
But one word from that world-saving, life-changing idiot and they're transformed. And my heart bleeds harder for the ending they should've had. Also bleeds because I JUST WANT TO SEE NEGI AGAIN.
And it's kind of unfair to Tota, because I don't really care about the relationship he has with Eva at this point. He doesn't even call her Eva! And there's only one person she calls her boy.

(still, make those Springfield genes useful Tota and advance the plot so that fateful reunion can happen for real k?)
