Lots of shining moments going on in this tournament as I continue onto part four of my episodic highlights of Haikyuu!! But also going up against adversity with the fated Seijou match marking the start of a five episode long battle.
Episode Sixteen: Boys and Girls Do Your Best

Karasuno’s deadly seriousness against any
opponent. From Hinata’s determined face to Nishinoya’s resolute one to
Kageyama’s serious one, they don’t look up or down; they just look straight
ahead at the present.

‘He was like a little animal, hungry for
victory…and now he’s tasted it for the first time.’ And what’s more, Kageyama
responds to Hinata’s emotions instead of shutting him down like usual. The
excitement is infectious and for good reason. What these two have in common is
an intense desire to keep playing volleyball and it’s because they have each
other that they can both keep standing on the court.

When Ikejiri runs up to the Karasuno team, I
love the ‘what’s up’ expressions on everyone’s faces, then the determined ones
after. Mostly because I have an unhealthy obsession with this team of
volleyball dorks.

The intercuts between Michimiya and Ikejiri’s
monologues. Because it doesn’t matter whether you’re a girl or a boy. It
doesn’t even matter if you won or lost. Nothing changes the fact that you were
a volleyball player.

People complimenting my baby crow! Even though
he’s an idiot with no survival instincts like you should know what you expect
if you say Kageyama’s smile is scary

Episode Seventeen: Boys Show Them What You’re Made Of

Everyone including Tsukishima participating in
the team huddle with a spirited ‘OSSSUU’

Kageyama’s serve even if his aim was off, and Nishinoya’s
receive as cool as always

‘Definitely?’ HOW CUTE IS THIS SCENE??? Hinata’s
like an excited puppy and Kageyama’s actually smiling normally and indulging
him. ‘I’ll get the ball to you’. WOW SO CUTE THESE TWO

Episode Eighteen: Boys Tear
Down Your Limits

The team letting Hinata take a break in the
back. The team acknowledging that Hinata’s a vital part of their strength. When
Asahi’s saying all that only Hinata’s eyes barely come up into the frame. THIS
CUTIE SHORTIE. Then everyone being all proud of him, and Hinata doing his best
I just love this team have I mentioned that?

I like the moon and the sun imagery. Part of why
I was so pumped for Tsukishima’s turn in the spotlight is because of their
names. He’s got to be important! The sun already cast the shadow ‘Kage’, all it
needs is the opposing light from the moon ‘Tsuki’
·
You can’t see it even when it’s right in front
of you: the monster quick!
·
Asahi and Tsukishima’s chat. Their ace might be
a wimp off the court but on the court he’s pretty cool!

Karasuno has a wall too!

Everyone’s pumped when Hinata rotates to
vanguard, including me
·
Of all people, Hinata is the one to say ‘we have
Asahi in the vanguard’. Not Nishinoya who believes in Asahi the most, or
Sugawara who was waiting for Asahi the whole time, but Hinata who wanted that
spot the most. ‘The ace is here’. If it was anyone lesser, he wouldn’t be satisfied,
but because it’s Asahi – ‘we’ll be okay’

MAKING A PERSONAL TOSS! GO ACE! What an amazing team.

Zero words exchanged and a handshake later,
Hinata managed to form an unlikely friendship with another team’s ace. Oh, only

Episode Nineteen: Boys Prepare Yourselves

with Hinata is such that the coach mistook you guys for childhood friends

Ok I know this is supposed to be a cool scene,
because it was cool in the manga, but it just turns really weird when Oikawa’s
VA suddenly becomes a different person for that one line. It throws me off

Honestly though I’m just maliciously pleased that it pissed Oikawa off. I just
want them to wipe that smug smirk off his face.
Episode Twenty: Boys Hang In
